A five session romp through Unitarian, Universalist, and Unitarian Universalist history, making the connections to why we are the movement we are today. Where did UU values and practices come from? And how have they (and will they) change? And how do YOU fit in?!


Session 1: European Unitarian Ideas and Universalist Heresies. From Arius and the Niceane Creed to the beginnings of the Transylvanian Unitarian Church to the Puritans fleeing England. See Session 1 Outline "UU History, Europe", attached, below.

Session 2: Unitarians in the New World. Our founding fathers, the split with congregationalists, Emerson and the transcendentalists. See session 2 outline "American Unitarians", attached, below.

Session 3: Universalists. Our UU Miracle story. From Universal Salvation to Universal Religion. See session 3 outline "American Universalists," attached, below.

Session 4: Humanism,  Black Pioneers,  Merger and Black Empowerment Controversy. See session 4 outline "American UUs", attached, below.
